Abstract
The Zhangjiazhai Reservoir dam site area in Guizhou Province is significantly affected by the coupling effect of karst and igneous rock intrusion, resulting in the development of multiple deep weathering slots that pose serious challenges to engineering construction. Through surface geological surveys, trench exploration, drilling, geophysical prospecting, and geotechnical testing, three longitudinal dissolution-weathering deep slots were identified at the left abutment, and one horizontal weathering deep slot was found at the right abutment.
The research results reveal two genetic mechanisms of weathering deep slots: "structure-igneous rock-karst coupling" and "contact zone differential weathering-structure-topography coupling." A management framework of "precise exploration-classification treatment-dynamic monitoring" for different types of weathering deep slots was established, and differentiated treatment measures were proposed.
After curtain grouting treatment, downstream springs dried up, and the grouting effect was significant. The treated dam foundation meets stability requirements. The research findings clarify the classification characteristics, genetic mechanisms, and treatment measures of weathering deep slots in karst-igneous rock intrusion coupling zones, providing valuable references for similar engineering projects.
